Thought of the week

"Words only hurt if you let them!"
I realize that your first reaction is to say, "Yea, right". I get that a lot when I say that to someone. But, by letting someone else's opinion hurt you, you're giving them control over you. Not just you, but your emotions as well. You're also giving them control of your opinion of yourself. There are plenty of things that we have no control in life,so why simply give up control over your emotions.
Usually, others only say hurtful words to make them feel better about themselves. They thrive when others feel bad, most especially when they are the cause.
The only opinion that matters about who you are, is yours!

How are things?

I realize I don't post on here often, but I don't know what to say sometimes.

We are growing and things are doing ok. I'm not sure what else we can ask for.

I would like to thank Athens State University for their help on various items for us and we should be getting with them soon. They're helping us with a new logo, business plan and a marketing plan. They are also going to try to help us on the site. The students feel that our site can use a major face lift. I can't really argue with them since I'm the one that came up with what to say. I'm not an orator so I don't always say the correct thing in the correct way and while I would like for this to be professional, it may not always come across like it. I'm just a housewife doing something I really enjoy.

I would also like to thank Fordham University for the cards they sent us. I really like getting handmade cards to send to the children. As a parent, I've always preferred getting them from my children because it means they actually spent time making them, making them more precious to me than a store bought present. I assume the children feel the same way. Someone spent time making them a card. That has to make them feel special.

Anyway, that's all for now and I hope you all have a great day.

New Collection and Delivery Location

So many children spend much of their childhood in hospitals, due to accidents or illnesses. To keep their curious minds growing, we formed Pages for Children in January of 2009. Each month, Pages for Children mails books and other related items to hospitals for these youngsters, not only to fuel their imaginations, but also to remind them that they are thought about and loved.

Until recently, we have had to limit our efforts to local hospitals in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee areas, but thanks to the kindness of the people at Village Books, we’re able to reach children on the other side of the United States!

Village Books will be delivering books to the hospitals in the Bellingham, WA area and we at Pages for Children would like to take this time to let them know that their efforts are appreciated. Seeing a business place the community ahead of profits gives us hope that our efforts will continue to grow and expand.

Please help us in thanking Village Books by buying your next book from them. Their partnership with Pages for Children is invaluable.

PaperDemon Coloring Book Contest

About two weeks ago, I was contacted by PaperDemon.com and was told about an event they will be having during January and February. They are holding a Coloring Book Project. Different artist and writers will be submitting there items to be included in a coloring book that they are having printed and sent to us so that we can send to various hospitals so they can give to the children they have in their care. The participation has been great so far and you can see the submissions here. So if you can draw, feel free to enter and maybe your project can be included.

I can’t wait to see the finished book. It makes me wish I could draw.

They also have a facebook page, so please visit and like their page.
